Krotoa marries Pieter van Meerhof

In 1664, Krotoa—recorded in the Dutch community as Eva—married Pieter van Meerhof, a VOC surgeon who also undertook exploratory work. The ceremony took place in the Cape settlement and joined her Goringhaicona family connections and interpreting career to a VOC household. Their children later connected the marriage to the colony’s wider family and labour networks.
