Krotoa, recorded in the Dutch community as Eva, married the VOC surgeon Pieter van Meerhof in a Christian ceremony in 1664.

In 1664, Krotoa—recorded in the Dutch community as Eva—married Pieter van Meerhof, a VOC surgeon who also undertook exploratory work. The ceremony took place in the Cape settlement and joined her Goringhaicona family connections and interpreting career to a VOC household.
